Baseball Loses Four Straight Games to Dartmouth and Binghamton, Looks to Keep Playoff Hopes Alive
The midweek matchup between baseball and Binghamton University began under intense humidity, which escalated into rain, thunder and lightning chaos. By the bottom of the fourth inning, the Red’s makeup game against Binghamton was cut short due to lightning strikes. The Red was originally scheduled to face the Bearcats on March 25, but that matchup was also canceled due to weather concerns. Cornell (11-20, 6-12 Ivy) opened the game strong — while the first inning was scoreless between the two teams, freshman infielder Mason Barela’s homer to left field allowed sophomore infielder Kevin Hager to score. The Red went up 2-0, and this was just the beginning of a cascade…

Guts, Grit and 37 Games: Baseball Welcomes New Players Ahead of Season
“Guts” is the word head coach Dan Pepicelli used to describe baseball’s attitude going into this season. “This team is a really tough group,” Pepicelli said. “We just don’t give up. To coach a group that has so much grit and guts is so much fun.” The new energy of nine recruited freshmen and one walk-on is motivating for the team. “They are joining such a good group of veteran players,” Pepicelli said. “I think it will allow them to mix right in and learn a lot from the older guys. We hope to see a quick transition.” The Sun spoke to some of the oncoming players to get a…
